My name is Catherine-Marie Longtin. I was born in Lachine, a small town close to Montreal, Canada. I spent most of my adult life on university benches, studying, writing and doing research in linguistics. A few years ago I came to the conclusion that even though there were good things in academia, there were not enough for me to spend the next 30 years of my life dedicated to it. I took a leap of faith and revived a forgotten love for visual arts and textiles. I love working with beautiful fabrics, being able to make the most of the smallest piece of a special cloth. I also love making quilts my way, away from patterns and the strict guidelines of traditional quilting.
I am based in London and have set up my studio in Vanguard Court, Camberwell.
